ByandBy Technologies will be officially launching the TransitKonect mobile taxi booking app and will also be presenting tablets to drivers of the Lagos state yellow taxi union, the official partners of TransitKonect, on the 28th January 2015.

TransitKonect, whose name sounds a lot like Tranzit (turned Taxipixi), is a mobile app that facilitates the booking of taxis by prospective passengers through their mobile phones.

The app is GPS enabled; allowing users monitor the taxi’s proximity. The app allows for price haggling and it provides the details of the drivers on the app.The TransitKonnect service is also incorporating in-taxi advertising as another revenue stream.

The launch event will take place at the White House Hotel, 23A Toyin Street, Ikeja, Lagos, by 10 a.m.

According TransitKonect’s CEO, Mr Adedayo Charis, “there is a challenge in getting taxi rides in Nigeria where people have to walk under the sun and even in the rain just to find a taxi that might not be going their way. The drivers also drive around burning their fuel in search of passengers, worsening the traffic problems in the process. We are here to meet that need by empowering both the passengers and the drivers with an excellent technology that keeps them connected at all times”.

TransitKonect is the latest e-hailing app to join Uber, TaxiPixi, Easy Taxi and more in Lagos’ onliine taxi space. The app is available for free download on the Google Play store.
