Jason Njoku, iROKOtv’s CEO revealed earlier today that the deal was reached last December after months of negotiations to support the launch of Netflix’s dedicated African section.
“Obviously with 57m subscribers globally, working with Netflix is a great first step to widening or at least improving the visibility of Nollywood. Which again is super important to us at iROKO,” Jason said.
This is the latest in iROKOtv’s partnerships with players in content distribution space. iROKOtv announced a deal with payTV operator, StarTimes over the weekend that will see the SVOD network launch two linear channels, iROKO Play and iROKO Plus, on the paytv platform.
In his latest announcement, Jason emphasized that iROKOtv’s focus for now is on streamlining content distribution via Android, using super encoded and compressed downloads in Lagos.
