Etisalat Nigeria has announced a partnership deal with the e-hailing taxi service, Uber, that will see the telco work as the main data provider for Uber.

According to Uber, Etisalat will be the main data provider for Uber’s services, supporting its service growth in Nigeria.

Uber Lagos, MD, Ebi Atawodi told TechCabal that the service, already has an existing global partnership with Etisalat Group as Uber has its presence in all of Etisalat’s main operating companies in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirate, Egypt, and Nigeria.

Uber, in a statement to TechCabal said the partnership is predicated on the launch of the Uber app available on smartphones in Nigeria and highlights Etisalat’s commitment to advancing technological development in Nigeria while providing fast, effective and affordable services through the Uber App for all smartphones users across the country.

“At Etisalat Nigeria, we believe that technological advancement is imminent and we are passionate about equipping our customers with innovative products and services,” Etisalat Nigeria Chief Marketing Officer, Francesco Angelone said.
