Chinese electronics manufacturer, Oppo has announced its intention to invest EGP100 million ($13,103,757) into Egypt’s smartphone market.
ITNewsAfrica reports that, this move by Oppo will boost the production of smartphone phones in Egypt and will be creating about 1000 new jobs.
Oppo’s executive director, Sky Lee also said that there’s a “possibility of establishing a factory in Egypt” if the company’s projections in the country are met.
The price range of smartphones in Egypt is said to be beyond what majority of the country’s residents can afford and with a low employment rate in the IT sector this move by Oppo is seen as a welcome development.
