Mobile communications company, Vodacom Nigeria, has provided WiFi services and a generating set to a Lagos’ technical school, the  Federal Science and Technology College (FSTC), Yaba Lagos.

According to a news release obtained by TechCabal, the donation is part of Vodacom’s ‘Power to You Project’.

The ‘Power to You Project’ project by Vodacom aims to support public and private schools in Nigeria by ensuring that students and teachers have access to ICT and new telecommunication technologies. In line with this vision, WiFi services and a 220KVA generating set were provided for students and teachers of FSTC.

“Internet penetration in Nigeria is still low, especially in public schools. With the ‘Power to You Project’, we aim to bridge the digital divide that exists in communities and schools without access to ICT,” Guy Clarke, MD of Vodacom Business Nigeria says.

The project is part of Vodacom’s resolve to reduce the digital divide in communities and schools that lack access to information communication technology (ICT), in Nigeria.
