Ugandan business mobile payment solution company, MMINDZS, has won the Grand Challenges Exploration competition (GCE), Dignited reports.

Grand Challenges Exploration competition is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

A mobile money-integrated accounting system, MYAccounts, developed by Francis Otim, CEO of MMDINZS, was one of more than 50 GCE round 14 grants announced yesterday by the foundation.

GCE is a competition that funds individuals worldwide to explore ideas that can revolutionize how to solve the persistent global health and development challenges inherent in the world.

The Dignited report says the winners demonstrated a two-page online application for a bold idea in one of five critical global health and development topic areas that includes enabling universal acceptance of mobile money payments in order to win the grant.

The competition will begin to accept applications for the next GCE round in September 2015.
