Google has launched a website, my ramadan companion, to help muslim faithfuls make the most of the ramadan period.

Google made the announcement yesterday. The platform curates locally relevant information, tips, app and other tools that will benefit users during the ramadan season.

Zain Kamal Masri, Google’s Associate Product Marketing Manager, Middle East and North Africa says, using the product, “You can find out the sunset time in your location and plan your day accordingly, check out the traffic in your area, navigate to the closest charity Iftar, find and share recipes, and enjoy Ramadan content on YouTube ranging from drama series and comedy sketches and health tips to stay fit during the 30 days of fasting.”

Google has been known to prove topical solutions with local relevance. An immediate example is the launch of online news portals in countries where general elections are to be held.
