MainOne, the Lagos-based telecommunications and data services company says it has invested over $300 million in network infrastructure in West Africa since it began operations five years ago.

The company said this during its five-year anniversary press conference where the company CEO, Funke Opeke, also shared how the company has evolved.

“Despite the challenges we face in this region, predominantly a dearth and high cost of infrastructure, we are excited about the future prospects in the broadband market,” she said. “[We] are determined to remain consistent in our resolve to bridging the digital divide between Africa and the rest of the world”.

MainOne recently got the consent of Nigeria’s telecommunications regulator, NCC to provide broadband infrastructure for Northern Nigeria and Lagos. In January, the company announced the opening of its Tier III Lekki Data center to address the growing demand for colocation, cloud and disaster recovery services in West Africa.
