French-based telecom operator, Orange has indicated its interest in acquiring Airtel subsidiaries in Burkina Faso, Chad, Congo Brazzaville and Sierra Leone.
Orange announced today that it has reached an exclusive agreement to hold discussions on the possible acquisition of Airtel subsidiaries in the aforementioned countries.
Earlier this month, Airtel sold off its tower assets in five African countries for $1.3million in a bid to reduce the $10.64 billion debt the company has incurred to run its operations on the continent.
