Whatsapp has updated its android app with new features, Mobilityarena reports.

The instant messaging app now allows users minimize the data strain during Whatsapp calls. Users only need to go to the Whatsapp call settings and select the “Low data usage” option.

Another added feature allows users set custom notifications for individual contacts and can also pay the yearly Whatsapp subscription fee for any of their contacts.

Aside these, there is also the new “Mark as Unread” feature. This feature highlights the conversion bar by making it green- thereby serving as a visual highlight for the reader as against reverting it to the unread status.

These features will also roll out on Window devices, there’s however no information on its roll out on iOS devices.
