Mustard Seed, a social startup investment body, in collaboration with University of Cape Town’s Bertha Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship has announced its pitch event for social or environmental startups in Cape Town.

Interested startups are required to submit a two-minute pitch video. The pitch video should indicate what social or environmental problem the startup is solving, traction, business model, scalability,  how much funding the startup wants, how it will be used and how the startup will impact the world.

Mustard Seed is looking at investing in one or two successful startups at the pitch event. Mustard Seed generally invests between $100,000 and $1million on startups.

“Mustard Seed addresses a rising appetite for entrepreneurship and socially-minded enterprise among graduates.  By investing in business with a clearly defined social or environmental mission, Mustard Seed bridges a critical funding gap to support early-stage ventures,” the announced read.

Submission closes by September 1, 2015 and the finalists will be announced by September 3. The final pitch event will hold on September 10, 2015.

Interested startups can submit their entries here.
