Mobile internet users in Nigeria grew by 13.6% to reach an all time high of  92.6M users during the first half of 2015, according to the data released by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

Itnewsafrica reports that MTN has the highest number of internet subscribers in Nigeria with 40.4m(43.6% of total users). Globacom added 1.7m subscribers in six months to come second at 19.3m (20.8% of total users).

Airtel came in third 17.5m (18.9% of total users), an increase of 17.4% from the 14.9m users they had last quarter. Although Etisalat grew the most during the quarter, increasing their subscriptions from 10m to 15.2m, it still has the lowest share (16.41% of total users).

The report shows clearly the bias of internet users towards mobile and why a lot of marketing campaigns now have a mobile internet dimension. This trend is indicative of a global phenomenon in adoption of mobile as the preferable means for surfing the internet.
