    Nigeria’s Central Bank is trying to do the impossible

    The Central Bank of Nigeria has called for the regulation of the cryptocurrency, bitcoin, in Nigeria. Well, ain’t that a feat?

    Microsoft is helping make the 2015 DEMO Africa happen, again

    The showcase for new technology-enabled ideas across Africa is holding in Lagos for the second time running and Microsoft is returning as a sponsor for the fourth time.

    9 days before applications close for the AppsAfrica Innovation Awards

    African tech-entrepreneurs can now apply for the AppsAfrica Innovation Awards. Entries can be submitted in ten categories including best disruptive innovation, best mobile innovation, best non-data mobile innovation (using SMS/USSD/ IVR), and more.

    Nigeria’s Former ICT minister, Omobola Johnson now heads up Alliance for Affordable Internet

    She replaces Dr. Bitange Ndemo, another former permanent secretary of Kenya’s ministry of information

    SA’s startup opens a London office after a $900,000 raise

    Cape Town-based end-to-end web-based transportation solutions startup, WhereIsMyTransport has completed a funding round worth $900,000.

    HTN towers increases its tower portfolio by 58%

    The independent tower operator in Nigeria has entered a managed services, and co-location agreement with SWAP technologies. A deal that will see its increase the number of towers under its supervision increase from 1,200 to 1,905; a 58 percent increase.
