Yesterday, pharmaceutical software consultancy company AGCNigeria emerged the winner at the Entrepreneur’s Hub pitching event held at NigeriaCom in Lagos, as reported by Disrupt Africa.
The startup’s winning pitch was based on its GenRX product, an inventory management system which alerts pharmacy stores, letting them know which drugs are set to expire. Next stop for AGCNigeria is AfricaCom in Cape Town where it will be joining other regional winners in November.
The event which is a partnership between Informa, Nigeria’s Wennovation Hub and Disrupt Africa saw five startups out a total of 80 applicants pitch at the NigeriaCom event. Fifteen other startups were selected for year-long mentorship at Wennovation Hub.
A statement by the partners reads, “The quality of applications received is an indication of the creativity and innovation embedded in African startups. Every entry is plausible but there is a limit to the number we can accommodate at the maiden edition. We strongly hope the next edition will accommodate more entrants so that all those great ideas that do not make this year’s edition can sprout up to the stage.”
