The Co-Creation Hub is changing the membership structure of its co-working space on the 6th floor of the building. As from Monday, June 13, 2016, with exception of a few paid desks, people will be able to access the facilities on the 6th floor for free.

Presently, CcHub has membership plans that go for at least N30,000 a year, but it seems that’s about to change with this adjustment. There’s no official statement on the criteria needed for individuals to be eligible for this free access.

What I do know, though, is that applicants for their membership plans are usually vetted in face-to-face meetings, so I’m guessing that would still apply along with other measures to screen applicants.

It’s no news that CcHub is one of the foundations on which the tech cluster in Yaba was built. They’ve been on the scene for over 5 years and, in that time, seen to the growth of startups that have helped build the tech scene to what it is today.

Startups like BudgIT, Truppr, Traclist and Wecyclers were birthed from CcHub and that’s just mentioning the ones we hear about. They’ve hosted a ton of hackathons that have created solutions for many issues in today’s society. “We have collectively demonstrated what progressive Nigerians can do with the right support. CcHUB is one of the highly referenced tech hubs across the world,” says CcHub co-founder, Bosun Tijani

.

And it’s not just the startups they have nurtured. Right now, there are about 30 established startups in  Yaba – Andela, Delivery Science, Paga, Paradigm Initiative Nigeria, to mention a few – and it’s all thanks to the community CcHub has helped build. That, and the fact that there’s approximately 27km of fibre optics cable lying underneath that wonderful Yaba ground.

CcHub has not only been about startup growth in Lagos, they’re also committed to the Nigerian tech ecosystem in general. Early this year, they acquired a centre in Abuja for edtech startups, and this weekend, the first hackathon will hold there.

It goes without saying that this change in the membership structure at CcHub is great news for budding startups and tech entrepreneurs that need the boost. We’ll update you on how you can get free access to the 6th floor when they announce the details in a few days.
