At this year’s International AIDS conference, the Praekelt Foundation launched a Facebook Messenger chatbot to give South African mothers access to maternal health information. The project is called MomConnect, it’s got 850,000 subscribers and it’s been operated by the South African National Department of Health as an SMS-based service.
