Early-stage startups and SMEs often have a challenge getting media and press coverage because they typically have little or no market budget. From sending generic press releases to media companies and sliding in their DMs to ask for coverage, startups make a number of errors that do not yield results.
On the 30th of October, 2019 at the Startup South conference in Uyo, South-South Nigeria, TechCabal will hold a media and PR workshop for startups. The workshop will answer the questions that startups and aspiring entrepreneurs have about getting media coverage.
Media companies especially niche publications focused on technology and innovation are always looking for interesting founders, innovators and startups to cover. Startups at their early stages generally have the misconception that they have to beg or pay a huge sacrifice to get coverage. While there are times you need to pay for a good media campaign, understanding how media companies find stories will ensure that you get free press coverage when you are just starting out with zero marketing budget.
