Lagos, Nigeria — Against the backdrop of rising cyberattacks and escalating digital threats, GidiSync Solutions convened an exclusive Cybersecurity Roundtable at Eko Hotel, Lagos, bringing together CISOs, CTOs, CIOs, regulators, venture capitalists, and business executives to explore practical ways of strengthening organisational resilience without stifling innovation.
The closed-door session, titled “What Does Cybersecurity Really Mean for Your Business in Today’s Complex Threat Landscape?”, encouraged participants to reframe cybersecurity as a strategic business enabler — one that protects value, accelerates transformation, and sustains investor confidence.
The Lagos event follows GidiSync’s first African stop in Nairobi, Kenya, where the team participated in the AfriLabs Annual Gathering, joining global innovation leaders, UN representatives, and former Nigerian Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo in championing the role of technology in Africa’s economic diversification.
“You can’t build sustainable digital growth on shaky foundations,” said Ademola Adeyemo, Principal Security Architect at GidiSync Solutions. “Secure architecture must be part of the design from day one. Cybersecurity isn’t just a technical control — it’s a strategic pillar for trust, reputation, and long-term value creation.”
Ibrahim Olawale, Cybersecurity Consultant at GidiSync, emphasised the importance of collective defence: “The threat landscape is evolving rapidly. No single organisation, no matter how sophisticated, can manage it in isolation. This roundtable created a safe space to exchange ideas, share lessons, and inspire partnerships that strengthen our collective defences.”
Participants — including senior decision-makers across the financial, telecommunications, oil and gas, and technology sectors — engaged in robust discussions on measuring cybersecurity ROI, bridging governance gaps, and building a resilient security culture tailored to Nigeria’s realities.
Speakers referenced recent global and local breaches — from Jaguar Land Rover and Marks & Spencer to the 2024 Flutterwave incident, which reportedly cost over ₦11 billion — as evidence that cyber risk is now a board-level issue with direct financial, operational, and reputational consequences.
After extensive deliberations, attendees aligned on four key priorities shaping Nigeria’s cybersecurity future: Build on Solid Foundations: Cyber resilience starts with secure architectures. Sustainable innovation cannot thrive on weak or fragmented systems.
Board-Level Representation: Cybersecurity must be treated as a strategic business imperative, embedded within governance structures.
Continuous Training and Awareness: Empowering employees remains the most effective defence against evolving threats.
Security-as-a-Service Models: Scalable, shared, and proactive defence models are critical for resource-efficient protection.
The Lagos Roundtable reflects GidiSync’s growing leadership in shaping Africa’s cyber discourse — connecting boardrooms, regulators, and innovators to build resilience through collaboration and shared accountability.
