The Finance Bill 2026 proposes an excise duty of โ25% of the excisable valueโ on โtelephones for cellular networks or for other wireless networks.โ The measure could significantly raise smartphone prices in Kenya, where devices already attract a 16% value-added tax (VAT), import declaration fees, and other levies before reaching retailers.ย
