Google has always been at the forefront of innovation. 3 years ago, they announced their vision to build self-driving cars.
Now that vision has come to full reality with their first self-built prototype. The prototype car is full-on driverless, as it hasย no need for ย steering wheels or accelerators pedals. ย Google has released a video showing everyday people experiencing the new prototype for the first time.
According to Google:
Weโre planning to build about a hundred prototype vehicles, and later this summer, our safety drivers will start testing early versions of these vehicles that have manual controls. If all goes well, weโd like to run a small pilot program here in California in the next couple of years. Weโre going to learn a lot from this experience, and if the technology develops as we hope, weโll work with partners to bring this technology into the world safely.
The future is imminent. If all goes as planned, we are looking at a future where we will never have to worry about reckless driving ever again. Car safety and efficiency will becomeย non-issues.
