    Expansion, regulation, and product delivery

2025 marked a major step forward for Blockchain.com in Africa. In February, we opened our first African office in Lagos, Nigeria, establishing a permanent local presence and laying the foundation for regulated growth across the region. Since opening, Nigeria has quickly become the anchor market for our African operations.

This momentum has been supported by increasing regulatory clarity in Nigeria. The Nigerian Investment and Securities Act (2025) formally brought virtual assets under the oversight of the Securities and Exchange Commission, providing a clearer framework for compliant crypto operations. This environment gave us the confidence to invest locally, expand our team, and deepen engagement with regulators and users.

As Owen Odia, General Manager for Africa, noted: “Nigeria is our biggest market, and the clarity around virtual asset regulation gives us confidence to build long-term. Our focus remains on being trusted, compliant partners to regulators and users across Africa.”

Product innovation: Tokenised stocks in Nigeria

In 2025, Blockchain.com introduced tokenised US stocks and ETFs to Nigerian users in partnership with Ondo Finance, marking one of the first live deployments of tokenised equities in the country. Users can now access over 100 US-listed stocks and ETFs directly through their Blockchain.com wallets, significantly lowering barriers to global investment for local retail users. To support adoption, we ran targeted launch campaigns that rewarded early users and long-term holders, driving strong engagement with the product in its first months of availability.

AI & crypto: June in Africa

We also introduced June, our privacy-first AI-powered finance assistant, to African users. June provides portfolio insights, market analytics, and DeFi data, helping users make more informed decisions while maintaining privacy. The assistant will be fully integrated into the Blockchain.com wallet, further strengthening the user experience across our product ecosystem.

    Community engagement & education

Alongside product launches, we invested heavily in local education and community engagement. In 2025, we participated in major regional conferences, including Moonshot Nigeria and the Africa Blockchain Festival in Rwanda. We also hosted a masterclass at Africa Leadership University and conducted Campus outreach programs across multiple Nigerian cities, bringing crypto education directly to students and grassroots communities.

To strengthen local communication, we launched Africa-focused Telegram and X channels, creating direct lines of engagement with users and enabling faster, region-specific updates.

    Team growth & local operations

Throughout the year, we expanded our African team across compliance, business development, customer success, and growth functions. This local capacity has been critical in supporting Nigeria’s rapid adoption, maintaining regulatory alignment, and delivering reliable support to users as the activity scaled.

    Looking Aaead

As we move into 2026, our priorities in Africa include:

    ● Deepening regulatory engagement in Nigeria & Ghana while advancing expansion plans aggressively across specific African countries.

    ● Launching additional tokenisation and yield products tailored to African markets

    ● Scaling education, community initiatives, and local partnerships

    ● Growing responsibly with compliance and user trust at the core, 2025 established a strong operational and regulatory foundation for Blockchain.com in Africa.

With local teams, live products, and increasing regulatory clarity, we are positioned to continue building practical, compliant crypto infrastructure across the continent.
