Mobile Telecommunication Company (MTN) is the commercial partner for Cable News Network’s (CNN) multi-national platform, Africa View, according to the press release issued on its website.
Africa View is a series aired on CNN’s news and current affairs programme, Connect the World with Becky Anderson. It shines light on the influential sectors driving the African continent ranging from innovation, education, energy, technology and more.
In the words of Antonio Canto, Vice President, Advertising Sales, CNN International: “We’re delighted MTN and CNN’s long-standing relationship continues to develop and grow. The development of the ‘Africa View’ segment is perfectly suited to reach a global audience, providing dynamic content and insights about the continent. We are proud to partner with MTN on this exciting new venture.”
Additional information from the press release divulges the fact that the allegiance, aimed at an advertising and sponsorship campaign, is focused on the ‘Africa View’ infographic series. Meant to run on CNN’s international television and digital platforms, consumers will have access to a dedicated news app for ‘Africa View’ when launched later on in the year.

Launched in 1994, the MTN Group is an emerging market operator, connecting subscribers in 22 countries in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. CNN, an American basic cable and satellite channel, is owned by the Turner Broadcasting System; a division of Time Warner.
MTN and CNN are no doubt major players in their respective fields, this synergy will definitely show Africa for what it really is, rather than what it is portrayed to be.
