    Last week, the South African business of MTN said its CEO, Ahmad Farroukh  had resigned, and this morning, Etisalat announced Farroukh would now join it as its new CEO. Well, it’s a bit of a surprise; CEO’s don’t port everyday. Meanwhile, MTN has announced a new CEO for its SA operations. Check out the stories that made the rounds today across Africa today.

    MTN SA CEO, Ahmad Farroukh will resume at Etihad Etisalat as CEO

    Saudi Arabia-based telco, Etihad Etisalat, has named Ahmad Farroukh as its new chief executive.

    MTN appoints a new CEO

    Just after Etisalat poached the CEO of its South African operations, MTN has appointed Mteto Nyati as a replacement.

    NCC data says Nigeria now has 146 million active lines in Nigeria

    According to the Monthly Subscriber Data report released by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on Sunday, the number of active telecommunications users in Nigeria is now more than 146 million in May.

    155 million smartphones are coming to MEA this year alone

    That according to an International Data Corporation (IDC) report.
