Who ever thought we’d see the day.
But we are here, on earth, and possibly in another three months, we will be holding an Android-powered Blackberry smartphone in our hands that is not a cheap knock-off by any of those unknown dubious Chinese brands.
Reuters first reported in May that Blackberry was working on the Android powered device that is based on the double curved slider handset (similar to the Galaxy S6 edge) that the company’s executive, Jon Louks, held up on stage at the 2015 MWC in March while announcing the Blackberry Leap.
Several renders of the device have since surfaced on the interwebs, but the most recent leak from Evan Blass (@evleaks), one of the most prolific phone leakers, is the closest we have gotten to seeing what the device will really look like.
He recently posted these GIFs on his TL.

The GIFs show the double curved screen on the device similar to what Ron, held up at the MWC back in March, the keyboard scurried under the sheet of glass and a Vanilla android OS.
Evan also confirmed a November release date on the four US national carriers.

Of course, Evan doesn’t work for Blackberry, but he has an impressive track record of releasing pretty accurate leaks and this one might very well be on the money.
According to PhoneArena, the BlackBerry Venice will feature a 64-bit Snapdragon 808 SoC will be under the hood, featuring a hexa-core 1.8GHz CPU and the Adreno 418 GPU. 3GB of RAM will be inside, and there will be a rear and front-facing camera combo of 18MP/5MP.
Now we hold our collective breath for this one. Seventy odds days to November. 1, 2, 3, 4 ….I’ll be right back.
