If you’ve been waiting for a Xiaomi phone since we told you it’s headed to Africa, well here’s good news.
IT news Africa says South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya will be seeing some Xiaomi smartphone as from anytime next week, through a distribution deal with Mobile In Africa Group.
Raymond Tian, Global Strategy Director of Xiaomi, said: “We see Africa as the next frontier for smartphone growth and we are excited to be partnering with MIA Group to offer consumers in these three countries our high-quality smartphones at amazing prices.”
MIA Group will act as a full-service distributor for these African markets, which will provide importation, logistics, marketing and support services. “MIA Group is delighted to bring the Redmi 2 and Mi 4 to key countries in Sub-Saharan Africa,” said RJ van Spaandonk, President of the Group. “We’ve seen a strong response to the products based on preliminary discussions with partners, and we look forward to providing consumers with these new high-end smartphone options at incredible price points.”
Starting from the middle of November, two Xiaomi phones, the Redmi 2 and Mi 4, will be offered by the countries’ leading mobile network operators, online partners and (specialised) retailers, and exact information regarding pricing and availability will be made available per country in the near future, prior to release.
