You’ve probably heard by now, that Google announced yesterday that the latest version of Android, Android N, will be called Nougat. They let us make submissions online back in May and there’s no evidence that they even took a look at the results. I say that because you can’t tell me that more people voted for Nougat than Nutella. This leaves two possibilities: it’s either Google did the same kind of ojoro democracy Nigerian politicians are famous for, or Nutella refused to give Google permission to use their name. I’ll let you decide the more likely scenario.
Personally, I’d have preferred to see Android N named Nkwobi, just to see a European struggle to pronounce it. But hey…it’s not like it matters. Most Android users won’t get the update until 2018, when other iterations have been rolled out. Why do they even bother?
