CcHUB will launch an after-school computing club for secondary school students in Nigeria known as the Geeks Club.

Geeks club is created to bring together a community of techie of the younger generation, provide them with new tools, resources, and adequate skills required to express the creativity in them. It will serve as a platform to raise innovators capable of contributing to the development of the society at the long run.

At the launch, 150 students selected from five public secondary schools across Lagos state will have the opportunity to join the Club.

The curriculum which is built around the Raspberry Pi, is designed to introduce students to software and hardware programming using Scratch, HTML/CSS and Python. Geeks Club also lays emphasis on developing the teenager’s soft skills in team work, communication and enhance critical reasoning abilities.

Through our partnership with Google and the Raspberry Pi Foundation, Geeks Club is available for free, to students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds, thereby reducing the effects of the economic gap and providing these students with a more equal footing in life,” was made in a statement from their official release.

In addition, Geek Club will offer an head-start to students who are interested in pursuing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) related careers.

CcHub is working in conjunction with Google and Raspberry Pi Foundation.
