Two leaders of e-commerce in Africa, Africa Internet Holding (AIH), Africa’s largest internet incubator and mobile service provider, MTN have today announced the beginning of a new partnership. Consequently, MTN  and Jumia are now joining up to offer a comprehensive online and mobile service to MTN users in Ivory Coast.

The partnership will introduce a new way for Customers across Ivory Coast to pay for their Jumia purchases, securely and efficiently, using the MTN Mobile Money system, along with access to exclusive offers and discounts in Jumia Ivory Coast.

Jumia in turn gets to set up a ‘Jumia Corner’, where customers will be able to get support from Jumia staff or pick up orders placed on Jumia that were paid for using the Mobile Money system, in MTN branches across Ivory Coast. The first 80 customer service points will launch on Tuesday at MTN’s leading branch in Plateau, the business capital of Ivory Coast.

Jeremy Hodara, CEO of Africa Internet Holding pointed out that partnership between AIH and MTN will  in time spread to other ventures, including Jovago, Kaymu and Easy Taxi.

The partnership is as a result of an agreement signed, by Millicom, the international telecommunications and Media Company and Rocket Internet to partner with MTN to develop their African online company AIH, in December 2013.
