The Lagos state government has declared its intentions to build a forensic lab dedicated to assisting the police in criminal investigation in the state.

Adebiyi Mabadeje, Lagos state commissioner for Science and Technology, said that five hectares of land located at Gayingbo beach, Badagry is being dedicated to this project which is expected service the whole African continent. He said the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) was in process while soil test had already been carried out. The project that will be a partnership between the public and the private sector, due to the huge cost implication.

The commissioner revealed that arrangements are already in place for the deployment of 1000 Close Circuit Television Cameras(CCTV) to supplement the already installed 1000 CCTVs across Lagos.; and that 92 Divisional Police stations had been equipped with Vehicle Exhibits and Information Systems to help the Police with the recovery and return of stolen vehicles to the owners.
