Speedcast International Limited, a satellite based broadband service provider, has announced its acquisition of Geolink Satellite Services, a mobile satellite communications service provider.

Speedcast seeks to bolster its position within Africa by leveraging on Geolink’s position in the maritime market. This acquisition will enable Speedcast extend its broadband customer base and also offer Geolink’s clientele a broader range of services.

According to a post by Speedcast, “the acquisition will strengthen SpeedCast’s fast growing services for the energy and maritime sectors, enhance its portfolio of mobile satellite solutions, and bolster its capabilities in the African region.”

The acquisition has not been finalised as it is still subject to approval by relevant regulatory agencies.

Speedcast has similarly acquired two other satellite solution ventures in the Australasia region within the last 12 months.
