    In Kenya, where the country already achieved the digital switch-over in line with ITU’s June 17 deadline, the citizens may begin to pay for erstwhile free terrestrial TV. And also, Google is disrupting Ramadan. Check out the stories that made rounds across Africa today.

    Kenyan digital dividend may come with extra TV bills

    After Kenya met the deadline for the analogue switch-off yesterday – something Nigeria did not try to do, by the way – its citizens may now begin to pay for terrestrial TV.

    Google can disrupt anything, even Ramadan

    The search giant has launched a web tool, My Ramadan Companion, that curates everything from the view in Mecca to the closest mosque to you.

    Senegal, Ethiopia, Rwanda and a group of African business leader just launched a $5 million scholarship and innovation fund 

    The fund will be channeled through World Bank’s PASET program that intends to award 10,000 African PhD scholarships over ten years.

    Nigeria’s Wennovation Hub is taking applications for its pre-acceleration program 

    The Lagos-based accelerator has begun accepting applications for its WennoKICK, a  6-week pre-acceleration program that will hold in Lagos and Ibadan.
