The first leg of the Seedstars pitch event is set to hold today in Cape Town.
Disrupt Africa reports that 11 startups will be participating in today’s pitch event before a group of judges.
The startups participating in Cape Town include Mintor, Tastemakers Africa; a travel app, mySOS, RedFish, NicheStreem; a music streaming service, Last Mile for BoP, Custos Media Technologies, Azimuth, Pushmoney, Gummie, and Senselab, a satellite data gathering startup.
Two weeks ago, Seedstars announced the inclusion of Johannesburg to the list of 12 participating cities in the pitch event. This inclusion make South Africa the only African country that will witness two separate pitch events. The top five startups in the Cape Town pitch event will be selected to present at a second round pitch event in Johannesburg. The second pitch event will also include the five top startups from Johannesburg out of which the most outstanding startup will be chosen from all ten to represent South Africa at the Seedstars World competition.
Seedstars’ pitch event is holding in 50 cities across the world and the best participating startup in each city will earn a chance to compete for $1.5 million dollars in equity at the Seedstars World competition that will hold in Switzerland next February.
Twelve African cities will be represented at the finals in Switzerland.
