Lagos-based integrated payments and transaction switching company, Interswitch has joined the PCI Security Standards Council on the improvement of global payments data security.

The company announced earlier today in a news release made available to TechCabal, that is would work with the council to achieve and improve payment data security worldwide through the ongoing development of security standards across various verticals.

“By joining as a Participating Organization, Interswitch demonstrates they are playing an active part in mitigating the threats and improving the security of the payment chain globally,” says Mitchell Elegbe, Group Managing Director of Interswitch.

The PCI Security Standards is a global arrangement that ensures merchants and service providers handling customer’s payment card data adhere to information security controls and data protection guidelines.

The Standards is endorsed by American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa Inc.
