MTN Cameroon is collaborating with startup incubator, ActivSpaces to launch an innovation challenge for Cameroonian startups.

Disrupt Africa reports that the Innovation Challenge will provide startups with the opportunity to enter ActivSpaces’ six month incubation program and receive XAF1 million ($1,700) in funding.

The competition is open to startups covering e-commerce, gaming, health, communication, transport, news, community development and enterprise services and employing the MTN Money API in their various Apps or website.

“Keep in mind that your app will be evaluated based on the following criteria: originality of the concept, market potential, effective use of MTN APIs and prototype’s advancement,” MTN said.

The competition will see startups pitch before a panel of judges in a preliminary and a final pitch challenge where three startups will emerge as winners. This in turn qualifies them for the six month incubation program under ActivSpaces and access to $1,700 in funding.

Application is currently open and will close September, 2015. Interested startups can apply here.
