Wuzzuf, an Egypt-based online recruitment platform, has closed a Series A worth $1.7 million.

TechCrunch reports that the funding round was led by Sweden-based Vostok New Ventures and UK-based Piton Capital. The amount put forth by the individual VCs was not disclosed.

Created by BasharSoft in 2009, Wuzzuf uses an algorithm to analyze jobs and talent profiles to produce real-time recommendations for employers and job seekers.

Wuzzuf reached profitability in 2013 and received seed investment from Silicon Valley incubator, 500 Startups, in 2014.

Wuzzuf is not the only player in the recruitment vertical as it has the regional player, Bayt.com on its heels. TechCrunch also reports that Rocket Internet has it’s eyes set on the job listing vertical in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
