The fintech with 400K+ global users brought freelancers and digital nomads together to discuss productivity, wellness, and getting paid smarter.

Global fintech app Cenoa hosted the first edition of Remote Workers’ Therapy on June 21st, a community-driven event that gathered over 100 freelancers, digital nomads, and remote professionals under one roof in Victoria Island, Lagos. The one-day event focused on the realities of remote work in Nigeria—addressing productivity, burnout, mental health, and financial sustainability.

Held at Café One Hub, the event created space for honest conversations around the ups and downs of working remotely. Through panel discussions, unburden circles, and wellness sessions, attendees left feeling “lighter, clearer, and recharged,” according to feedback.

A space to connect, unburden, and grow

Opening the day, Judith Azi, Operations Manager at Cenoa, set the tone by sharing the event’s core purpose: to create a safe, empowering space for Nigeria’s remote work community to connect and thrive.

“Remote Workers’ Therapy was born from a simple idea: to bring Nigeria’s growing remote workforce together under one roof—to learn, connect, and unburden ourselves,” said Azi.

Following her address, the panel session, “The Good, The Bad & Everything In Between”, brought forward honest conversations about remote work realities. Moderated by Seun Babajide-Duroshola, the panel featured insights from Dami Fayanjuola (Founder & CEO, Peepuu HQ), Josiah Adegboye (Tech Leader & Mentor), and Oluwapelumi Oyetimein (COO, Peppa). Key themes included building a personal brand, finding high-quality remote gigs, maintaining healthy boundaries, and designing sustainable work routines.

After a short break, attendees gathered for the Unburden Session: The Wellness Circle—a unique blend of guided breathing exercises and raw conversations on mental health, self-care, and time management. Led again by Babajide-Duroshola alongside Chioma Fakorede (Founder, Olamma Cares Foundation) and Awazi Angbalaga-Joshua (CEO, Shaare), the session offered practical strategies for balancing wellness with ambition.

“When you’re healthy, you have a hundred problems,” Seun shared, “but when you’re unhealthy, you have just one: your health.”

By the end of the day, many participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to meet like-minded professionals in person—a rare experience in today’s remote-first world.
