When I reflect on how far I have come in the tech industry, it feels like connecting the dots that didn’t make sense until now.
I am a Product Manager (PM) at Stringify Consulting, a digital innovation firm helping businesses build scalable products and experiences across Africa and beyond. My journey into the tech ecosystem did not start with code or design; it started with a question: “How do great products come to life?”
The curiosity that sparked it all
I have always been deeply fascinated by how things work, not just on the surface, but beneath it through the layers. This curiosity led me to explore how technology intersects with real human needs. Before becoming a PM, I had worn different hats: researcher, coordinator, and sometimes even an informal UX tester for friends building apps. It did not take long for me to realise that while coding builds a product, strategy and empathy give it purpose.
That revelation shaped my decision to pursue product management, which is the perfect intersection of creativity, customer obsession, and business thinking. I found my place not in writing thousands of lines of code, but in asking several hard questions, such as: “Who is this for?”“Why does this matter?” and “How can this product make life easier on a regular day for someone resident in Lagos, Nairobi, or Accra?”
Building with empathy at Stringify Consulting
At Stringify Consulting, I have had the privilege of working on products that serve real communities, from healthtech platforms empowering on-demand caregivers to edtech tools reshaping learning for underserved youth. Our mission is simple: build with Africa in mind.
My role as a Product Manager is not just about shipping features. It is about creating clarity out of chaos. I translate complex problems into intuitive user journeys, align cross-functional teams, and constantly balance business goals with user needs. Every backlog item, sprint planning, or customer interview is a step closer to building a product that truly resonates.
One of our most exciting projects this year has been collaborating with a wellness startup aiming to become the “Uber for holistic health.” Think therapy, yoga, and spiritual coaching, all on one platform, accessible to anyone, anywhere. My job is to make sure that vision is not only achievable but usable, lovable, and scalable.
Navigating challenges and growth
As a Product Manager in Africa, the experience has had its perks and challenges. Challenges such as infrastructure gaps, payment fragmentation, and device diversity mean you have to design leaner, think smarter, and test deeper. But it is also what makes the role fulfilling. We’re not just building for convenience; we are also solving for survival, access, and economic inclusion.
I’ve learned to be agile not just in methodology, but in mindset. You pivot often. You fail fast. You listen deeply. And through it all, you grow.
What keeps me going
For me, product management is not just a job title; it is a mission. It is the belief that technology can transform lives if we build with intention and empathy. I want to see more African talent not just consume tech, but lead innovation globally. That is why I mentor aspiring PMs, contribute to open product communities, and keep telling stories like this.
Looking ahead
The African tech ecosystem is just getting started. As we enter the age of AI, decentralisation, and digital public infrastructure, product thinking will be the differentiator. At Stringify, we are positioning ourselves at that edge to help clients future-proof their ideas and navigate complexity with clarity.
So, whether it is co-creating with founders, aligning global teams, or mapping out a Minimum Viable Product over suya and cold drinks, I am proud to be part of this movement. Because this is not just my tech life, it is my life in giving impact.
