Having recorded immense success in the first phase of her company strategy– upskilling women through technology, the women-focused edtech company has moved on to the second phase: raising women innovators to solve problems unique to women. The first step in this new phase is the launch of a three-month incubator programme targeted at women innovators, whether still at heart or in practice. This programme is focused on FemTech and family tech.
In strategic partnership with HelpMum, Heels and Tech is empowering women to nurture their ideas and develop them into innovative solutions. HelpMum is a social enterprise at the forefront of female and family-centred technology innovations. It focuses on reducing infant and maternal mortality across Africa by offering innovative health solutions. Together, they are empowering women to take full advantage of technology to address the unique health needs of girls and women while also enabling them to transform these innovations into functional business models.
New Incubator Programme:
- Cost: Free
- Duration: Three months
- Focus Areas: FemTech and family tech
- Objective: Empowering women to develop ideas into innovative solutions and functional business models.
“Being a mother of three, I am aware that at the centre of families are women. Thus, our focus on family tech is to enable women to have the best of both worlds: a thriving career, and a healthy family life,” says Bisola, the Founder of Heels and Tech. “We are supporting women to create innovative solutions to their own problems. Some of these solutions include;
- family safety devices,
- parental control and monitoring software,
- virtual games and activities,
- digital memory-keeping tools and more to keep families safe and thriving.
Just as I didn’t have to choose, other women don’t have to choose between their careers and their families”.
Programme Highlights:
- Expert Training and Mentorship: Led by industry veterans across various digital niches.
- Networking Opportunities: Connect with other innovators and industry leaders.
- Pitch Competition: The winner of the pitch competition will go home with a grand prize of N1,000,000 (One million naira) sponsored by HelpMum
No doubt, there are women trailblazers in FemTech; the likes of Alice Zhang and Tania Boler, however there’s a paucity of black women. Heels and Tech has discovered that although black women are brimming with visions and ideas as a result of the myriad of challenges they are faced with, they are often unequipped or ill equipped to bring them to life. Heels and Tech is changing that narrative by thoroughly equipping women to realise their ideas and pursue their dreams, providing solutions that will change the trajectory of humanity forever.
Innovation is the breath of technology and Heels and Tech is leading women to take their place in tech, empowering and supporting them on this journey–from technophobic women to becoming tech giants.
