Africa’s digital economy is expanding rapidly. As more consumers shop online, businesses sell across borders, and entrepreneurs reach customers beyond their local markets, the demand for reliable logistics infrastructure has never been greater.

Behind every successful transaction lies a critical, yet often overlooked, enabler: logistics.

Without reliable logistics networks, e-commerce growth slows, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) struggle to scale, and cross-border trade remains more aspiration than reality. The seamless movement of goods has become a fundamental driver of economic growth, competitiveness, and regional integration across Africa. This is the challenge and opportunity that GIG Logistics (GIGL) is addressing.

Founded in 2012, GIGL has evolved from a domestic delivery company into one of Africa’s leading logistics and supply chain platforms. Today, the company operates across Nigeria, China, Ghana, Benin Republic, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada, with more than 160 service centres and access to over 230 destinations worldwide.

The company’s next phase of growth is being driven by the Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Sebastine Osita and a high-performing leadership team who are committed to building the infrastructure required to support Africa’s growing commerce ecosystem.

With more than two decades of leadership experience in the energy sector, including senior roles at ExxonMobil and Chappal Energies, Osita brings a strong track record of operational excellence, large-scale infrastructure management, and strategic transformation.

“Logistics goes beyond simply transporting packages from one location to another; it serves as the backbone of trade, fosters business opportunities, and connects African markets to the global economy. Our goal is to develop a platform that facilitates sustainable growth and provides top-notch logistics solutions for our customers, utilizing technology effectively”.

That vision is reflected in the company’s recent investments in people, infrastructure, technology, and operational capacity.

At the centre of GIGL’s operations is the Alaga Gateway in Oshodi, Lagos, a state-of-the-art facility that serves as the company’s operational headquarters and primary gateway. Powered by solar energy, the facility supports GIGL’s commitment to operational efficiency and environmental sustainability while reducing emissions and energy costs.

The facility plays a critical role in processing, storage, and distribution across the company’s expanding domestic and international network.

To further enhance operational efficiency, GIGL has invested in an automated sorting system currently being manufactured in China, with installation and commissioning scheduled for the third quarter of 2026. Once operational, the technology is expected to significantly improve processing speed, throughput capacity, and service reliability.

The company has also expanded its transportation fleet by adding over seventy new trucks, strengthening capacity and enabling faster shipment movement across its network.

These investments reflect a broader transformation taking place within the logistics industry. Today’s leading logistics companies are increasingly differentiated not only by the volume of shipments they handle, but also by the quality of the infrastructure and technology they deploy to support growing trade volumes.

Geographic expansion remains another key pillar of GIGL’s growth strategy.

In the first half of 2026 alone, the company launched fifteen new service centres, including thirteen locations across Nigeria, further strengthening its domestic footprint. It also opened its first service centre in Cotonou, Benin Republic, marking its entry into a third West African market after Nigeria and Ghana.

Beyond Africa, GIGL expanded its North American presence by opening a new centre in Dallas, Texas, its second location in the United States. The company also upgraded to a larger warehouse facility in China to support increasing demand for international shipping services.

Technology continues to play a central role in GIGL’s growth strategy.

The recently launched GIGGo App enables customers to schedule pickups and deliveries across Nigeria, track shipments in real time, and shop from the United Kingdom, the United States, and China, with direct delivery to Nigeria. For individuals and businesses alike, the platform simplifies logistics and expands access to global markets.

GIGL has also upgraded Agility, its proprietary technology platform, to support higher transaction volumes, improve operational visibility, and position the business for future growth and increasingly complex logistics demands.

The company’s role in enabling commerce is further demonstrated through strategic partnerships. As TEMU’s leading logistics partner in Nigeria, GIGL helps connect global merchants with millions of Nigerian consumers, delivering shipments across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

As digital commerce continues to reshape consumer behaviour and business operations across Africa, logistics is becoming far more than a support function. It is increasingly the foundation upon which modern commerce is built.

For GIG Logistics, the mission extends beyond delivering parcels. The company is focused on building the infrastructure that enables businesses to grow, facilitates cross-border trade, and strengthens Africa’s participation in the global economy.

At GIGL, the belief is simple: commerce moves where logistics lead.
