Kernel Fund, a US based angel investment firm has invested an undisclosed amount of seed capital into a Nigerian startup, heels.com.ng; an online retail store for women shoes.
The emailed statement announcing the investment does not disclose the terms of the deal. However, Kernel Fund’s typically invests between $25,000 to $50,000 at the seed stage, according to its website.
The two year old startup’s traction and the pedigree of its founders were cited as the main reasons for the investment. Ade Ajayi, a manager with Kernel Fund said they aim to identify more promising early stage startups in 2015 that need seed capital as well as strategic advisory services through its network of members and seasoned practitioners with deep experience in building technology startups, technology strategy, marketing, M&A and finance.
Heels.com.ng was founded by Ikenna Okonkwo and Udoka Uzoka, currently the CEO and CTO respectively.
