South Africa-based e-commerce platform, Kalahari.com has been integrated into Takealot.com.
An earlier report on TehcMoran says the merger was substantiated on last week after Kalahari.com began redirecting customers to takealot.com. The merger was necessitated by a need to scale against growing competition.
TechCabal previously reported the approval of the intended merger by the Competition Commission of South Africa, a statutory body that regulates business practices in South Africa .
Kalahari customers will have their accounts and transaction details transferred to takealot’s database and pending transactions with Kalahari will not be affected by the merger.
“We welcome all the Kalahari.com employees who have joined takealot.com while acknowledging the hard work that went into building the brand and business. We look forward to their continued input and experience as they join us in building out takealot.com into the premier online shopping destination on the African continent” says Willem van Biljon, takealot’s co-founder.
