ScholarX

The search is real. I’m talking about the search for scholarships lots of Nigerian kids have to go through. You see, throughout my school years, my mum was convinced it was God’s plan for my life to get a scholarship. Even though I wasn’t very enthused about the entire thing (probably because I wasn’t the one bearing the financial brunt), I’d spend time Googling aggressively, looking for some Oil company-sponsored scholarships to latch onto. Meh.

ScholarX is an app I found a few days ago that claims to be an “easy way to find and apply for Scholarships”, and it’s marketed towards Nigerian students. They operate a two-tier system, where some scholarship opportunities are made available to everyone who downloads the app for free, but reserve a few “hidden” ones for users who agree to pony up ₦500/year. After making the ₦500 payment, you’ll be given an unlocking code that’s valid for the next one year. The ScholarX team seeks out funds for some exclusive scholarships from a couple of organisations. So, how does it work?

After downloading the app, you’ll see a Sign In prompt

But because you don’t have an account (yet), you’ll have to create one

The next screen you’ll see is a Sign Up form, to fill in your deets

Scholar X

(don’t you dare call me)

They give you access to a US-based Scholarship Advisor (mail: advisory@scholarx.co)

ScholarX

Amongst other things like Bulk Membership, Discounts etc.

To find scholarships, you’ll have to fill in some of your personal data

ScholarX

The data will be used as a filter of sorts, so you’re only seeing scholarships you qualify for

Voila!
