Recently Infinix Mobile launched its Note 30 series among which was the trailblazing Note 30 Pro. If you’re interested in advanced charging technology with high processing power on a budget, then this is the phone for you.

What’s in the box

The Infinix Note 30 Pro retails for ₦175,900. It comes with two charging capabilities (a 68W charger and a 15W wireless charging base/pad), a transparent plastic case, wired earphones, one screen protector, and a free data card from MTN (not pictured above).

Specs and feel

The Note 30 Pro comes in magic black and variable gold. I got my hands on the variable gold courtesy of Infinix and I have to say, I adore this cutting-edge technology and design. This 162.72 x 75.95 x 8.12mm device has a metallic chrome look and is solid and sturdy to the touch. The variable gold as the name implies is gold but when light hits it, it reflects a variety of colours beautifully.

The four lenses design keeps it in line with the modern look of smartphones and camera technology on the market. The smartphone has a 108MP triple back camera and a 32MP front camera with flash.

(108MP camera: day vs night view)

Automatic colour grading technology has also been added to enhance image quality when there’s strong backlight or glare so you get a clear picture regardless of brightness levels. I didn’t love the selfie camera view but the back camera takes clear and crisp pictures so I’ll be sticking to that. The phone also has a dual-view video feature, which allows for simultaneous recording using both front and rear cameras, combining them into a single picture-in-picture video. So, with the Infinix Note 30 Pro, you can capture real-life events and your reaction to them all in one view. This is great for people who love to shoot reaction videos in this TikTok era.

What stands out in this flagship product is the charging technology. It comes with three main charging innovations for the brand; reverse charging technology, fast charging, and also bypass charging. This is achieved with its 68W charger and 15W wireless fast charging base, one of the fastest reverse charging technologies currently available in the market. How this charging pad works is you plug your charger into the charging base instead of your phone and just place your phone on it and it starts charging. The wireless charging function is a plus X2; value for your money and ease while charging. It makes charging so much easier, safer, and more convenient. You can charge from your car, desk, and it came in handy at night because I no longer have to fumble in the dark to find the right side of my phone to plug in. The phone came with about 20% battery and after I plugged it in for about 30 minutes I was set to start using the device at  100% battery. The Infinix Note 30 Pro also doubles as a charger for your other devices that support wireless charging like smartwatches, earbuds, and iPhones. To use reverse charging, you just turn the feature on in your battery settings, turn your Infinix Note 30 Pro to the back and place your IOS device or Bluetooth earbuds on it and it’ll start charging wirelessly. I love how Infinix innovates around customer needs with improvements like this. Coupled with the fact that the phone’s 50000mAh battery lasts over 24 hours, I have not seen nor do I care where my power bank has been for the past week because I haven’t needed it.

This flagship smartphone’s OS is XOS 13 built on the latest Android 13. It comes with an improved 120Hz 10-bit AMOLED eye-care display. This display gives better motion graphics, a smoother user interface, and better multitasking functions. It also offers high processing power with top-notch cooling technology so your phone doesn’t overheat. It comes with a 6nm Helio G99 Ultra Power Processor which allows for ultra-fast processing speeds while achieving high levels of efficiency and less power consumption. With the bypass charging function, you can set your Note 30 Pro to channel power straight to the motherboard when your battery level reaches a certain percentage. I ran multiple apps in the background and then entered XArena to test this function out. First I increased my bypass threshold in the settings, then I turned on the bubble game I wanted to play. As the game came on, I swiped across the screen to the right and a bar to activate bypass charging pulled up. With multiple apps running in the background and a game playing, this phone did not slow down or start getting hot like I’m used to happening with other devices.

The Note 30 Pro’s UI offers a variety of notification options which I enjoyed. I also enjoyed hours of uninterrupted focus with control over what interrupting notifications. According to Infinix, this smartphone’s display is certified by TÜV Rheinland as a low blue light display with no flicker, helping to reduce visual fatigue and problems associated with prolonged screen use. Some apps come pre-installed, which is Infinix’s style, and some of them can be uninstalled. I love how I could reduce YouTube videos to the background and continue working in other apps while YouTube continued playing in a minimised window even though I don’t have a premium subscription. The  only con with this OS is its current compatibility with some popular apps like Netflix. Hopefully, subsequent updates will support this.

The storage capacity of the Note 30 Pro is amazing. It is packed with 8GB RAM that can be extended to 16GB RAM. It also comes with 256GB of internal storage which should come in handy for all the hundred pictures you’ll take with this excellent device. The sharp display and the dual speaker sound system designed by JBL provide exceptional  Hi-Res audio quality and a riveting gaming experience.

Overall the NOTE 30 Pro delivers efficient performance and is a great bargain because you get charging efficiency, powerful chipsets, impressive display, and a great user interface. It pushes the boundaries of innovation bringing you state-of-the-art technology on a budget.
