On Friday, June 16th, I attended the launch of ThinkSpace, a workspace located within Four Points by Sheraton Lagos. What Four Points by Sheraton has done with ThinkSpace is to create a modern, tech-optimised workspace, designed with top-notch amenities to evoke the best working experience possible for the modern professional in Lagos.

ThinkSpace consists of 20 open-space workstations, a lounge area, a 12-seater conference meeting room, and two 4-seater private offices that can also serve as meeting rooms. There are free desktop devices to work on and stable and fast Wi-fi. The workspace also has an app designed by Heckerbella Ltd so you can seamlessly book a space online for work, conferences, meetings etc. The app can be found in Android and iOS stores on your phone and the registration process is quick and easy. I love the convenience this has created for everyone because sometimes you might just be passing through a big city like Lagos and having to trudge online to find a convenient coworking area might take some time. I know I have had to hunt down coworking spaces online and pray that the number listed on Google is correct and that they have available space for me. With this app, you can easily book a space and schedule work in advance.

According to  Kaliq Essop, the General Manager of Four Points by Sheraton, ThinkSpace was conceptualised during uncertain times. The COVID-19 pandemic transformed the way we think of work and schooling. During the pandemic, most businesses shut down and those who already had the fortitude and ability to incorporate technology into their systems switched to more remote working systems. It was a time when the importance of cross-border communication and collaboration became paramount. Now a lot of companies and individuals have pivoted to remote work and what the management at ThinkSpace aimed to create is a place with the most conducive ambience for this.

The space is designed to leave you fully recharged from your body to your devices. I sat in the space for the whole of my Friday workday and churned out this article you’re reading and many others with speed and great ease. The 20-seater open-work space doesn’t feel like you’re with anything more than three to four people in the room due to its design. I sat at the centre desk in this room during the launch and only got a glimpse of and spoke to the two people in front of me and beside me. The desks come with charging ports for your laptops and both Android and iOS charging cable ports. The Wi-Fi was smooth and everyone found the password already on their desks. The most impressive feature in the main room was this amazing Huawei 4k smart board. This board and its 4k camera quality are designed for teleconferencing, presentation, and working. It comes with USB pluggable features and an always-on display screen so you can display your business logo on the screen if you host a conference or panel here. This board’s camera is voice sensitive, meaning as long as you’re in view of the camera, when you speak, it follows you. This makes presenting so much more interactive and smoother.

The locker/lounge area is designed with plush seating so you can take a break and recharge from work. The lockers have keypad password lock features for users to  secure their belongings and work with peace of mind.

Other amenities include:

  • A kitchenette with the best tea/coffee in Lagos and snacks to keep your belly full through the workday.
  • Discounts on food and rooms at Four Points by Sheraton.
  • Gym membership discount.
  • High-quality printer and scanner.

To get all these top-of-the-line amenities, just walk into ThinkSpace at Four Points by Sheraton, Lagos or start by booking your space on the app here.
