Roam has launched a 3% cashback feature for airtime purchases in Nigeria, as fintech startups intensify efforts to win customer loyalty through rewards and everyday savings.
The feature allows users to earn instant cashback whenever they buy airtime on the Roam app across major networks including MTN, Airtel, Glo, and 9mobile (T2).
“With this launch, we’re turning an everyday necessity into an opportunity for users to save money consistently,” said Obinna Chukwujioke. “People buy airtime almost every day. Offering cashback on those purchases is a simple but meaningful way to reward users for transactions they’re already making.”
The cashback is credited automatically after each qualifying transaction, eliminating the need for points or redemption systems.
Roam also says it plans to expand the feature to electricity bill payments and mobile data purchases soon.
Roam lets users open a dollar account in their own name and also use stablecoin-backed wallets, making it easier to send, receive, and hold money across borders while still spending locally through a single app.
