We’re about to do something new. A first for TechCabal, and for those of you who already know about our companion forum, Radar. But before that, let me introduce you to a very important someone.
Adii Pienaar is a very good bad guy*. Whether you’ve known of him before now or not, chances are high that if you have ever come into contact with WordPress, you have come into contact with software that he’s built. Adii is best known for co-founding WooThemes, a multi-million dollar technology business that is known not just for its premium WordPress themes but also as the maker of WooCommerce, the most widely-used e-commerce WordPress plugin on the planet. WooThemes’ success is only more amazing because.
1. It happened out of South Africa, and;
2. That venture was entirely bootstrapped.
Adii exited WooThemes in 2013. And promptly jumped right back into startups. His current venture, Receiptful, just raised $500,000 dollars in funding. Post-WooThemes, Adii adopted an “always in public, always in beta” mantra which means that over the past two years of “making new mistakes” (as his blog is captioned), he has made a point of laying it bare. Adii’s blog is a treasure trove of startup lessons, insights and practical growth hacks.
Adii is not just an entrepreneur, but also a software engineer, an author, and recently an investor who has participated in world class technology businesses from Africa. Those are some hefty credentials. And that is why we are incredibly honoured to host an interactive “ask him anything” session with Adii on Radar.
If you are as excited as we are about this exclusive and real-time interaction with Adii, be sure to bookmark the URL to the Radar conversation — the topic will be open for your questions at exactly 4pm (GMT+1) on Wednesday, the 20th of May.
*a bad guy, or more colloquially “bahd guy” reference generally denotes being super cool or a badass.
