Why are all numbers afraid of +-*/?

I see now, why I have no friends.
No doubt, the internet (I really mean Google search) is rife with search queries like, “Who is George Boole?”, and for good reason too.
It’s the English mathematician’s 200th Birthday, and so today’s doodle highlights both Boolean logic and Boolean operators – both integral to Google’s main product (it’s search algorithm).
George Boole’s work laid the foundation for pretty much all of modern day Electrical Engineering, Control Systems and Computer Science, as his binary logic (in which all values are reduced to 1s and 0s, or true or false) is still actively being used today.
For example, each of his operators tells search engines like Google, Bing and DuckDuckGo how to treat search queries that have more than one word. So, OR returns results that have either of the search terms, and AND returns results that contain both of the search terms. Of course, search engines have become much smarter than this, but the underlying logic still leans heavily towards Boolean algebra.
George Boole was a self taught polyglot, well versed in French, German, Latin, and later, Greek, founded a school at 19, and became the first professor of mathematics at Queen’s College, Cork, despite not having a university degree!
