Callbase is a telephone system for modern distributed teams that makes it easy, affordable and more efficient for organizations to manage and measure voice communication with customers, partners and others. It is browser based, self service hosted and does not require any installation.
Callbase is built on the Fonenode Telephony API. Remember, Fonenode’s maiden implementation was covered last year on TechCabal. Amid a lot of positive feedback, it became apparent to its creators that it is a wee bit ahead of its time for this market and so, might take a while to catch on and scale. Callbase was created so they can monetise directly and faster and also serve as a validation of the viability of the Fonenode API. Of course, Fonenode as a standalone API, is still very much alive. But think of it now as a private API that selected developers are allowed to tap into.
Callbase is a product of the same brains behind the Fonenode API – Oo Nwoye and Opeyemi Obembe. They strongly believe that they possess the best combination of business and technical experience to get the product off the ground.
Oo Nwoye is a graduate of the Universities of Benin and Warwick. He has worked on several commercial and non-profit technology/web projects (including Gbedu.fm and OnePage), and is an acclaimed Nigerian technology ecosystem evangelist.
Opeyemi Obembe is a graduate of Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Akure. He has been Lead Developer on a number projects and startups including Twhii, Stalls and the multi-award winning Prowork.
