Finally, some innovative advertising from a Nigerian brand. It kind of reminds me of the Apple vs. IBM vs. Microsoft days. I was getting sick of seeing people in traditional attires chanting “na correct wakkis” every 5 seconds.

I did not see this one coming. Airtel has always looked the underdog in the Nigerian telco space. But even more interesting than the video, is the comments section. I don’t want to be that person, but there’s always this guy:
It’ll be interesting to see what MTN’s reaction to this will be. Will they go shoot a revenge ad in response? Will they bombard their own customers with more texts of doom, or will they join forces with Etisalat to make a super-ad (Voltron style)? Has Etisalat even forgiven MTN for stealing their point man from right under their noses?
