In a few days, TechCabal will open its doors to the Tech Women Lagos Audacity exhibition. To increase the number of female developers in Ethiopia, software development training and jobs startup, Gebeya, has partnered with the International Finance Corporation to implement the Digital Gender-Ethiopia Programme. The partnership will see the company provide training to 250 female software developers and seed funding to 20 female entrepreneurs whose digital business ideas will be supported by Gebeya.

Azuri Technologies and crowdfunding platform, Energise Afric, have announced the latest phase of debt financing from UK impact investors to deliver affordable, clean energy and help solve the energy crisis in sub-Saharan Africa. They plan to raise £2.5 million and help more than 100,000 people access clean energy.

The Kgalema Motlanthe Foundation, in partnership with Fliptin, Microsoft and Idea Collective will host the “AI in Mitchells Plain” bootcamp from 15 to 17 March, 2019. The girls-only bootcamp will kick-start the 2019 “AI in Africa” tour across South Africa for disadvantaged girls aged 15 to 18 years old. The foundation says it is equipping the younger generation of South Africans with 21st century skills to prepare them for the 4th Industrial Revolution.

Nairobi Innovation Week is calling for startups to participate in its 2019 NIW Startups programme. 30 startups will be selected to pitch during the 5th Nairobi Innovation Week and the 6 Most Promising Startups are set to receive funding, network, get discovered by investors, partners, customers and receive mentoring. NIW targets students and alumni of the University of Nairobi.

Akintunde Oyebode, Executive Secretary at the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), has been appointed Special Adviser, Investment, Trade & Innovations to the Ekiti state governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi. He joins six other newly appointed Advisers, a Chairman Board of Internal Revenue and others in the governor’s cabinet.
